Summer Ready!
Summer is my favorite time of the year. I feel my best in these warmer months and I love the sun! Here are some tips to make sure you are summer ready this season.
The Season Is Here!
Who feels like they go into hibernation mode during the cooler months, especially when it comes to our bodies. The days are long and cold in Chicago...and for me, colder months can be challenging.
What are some of your coping methods during the colder months?
For some it may be eating too much bad and not enough good food...or just eating too much in general.
For others it's lack of movement.
For some it can be emotionally draining during the dark, cold winter.
Summer is HERE...make sure you're summer ready!
Be Smart About Sun Care!
Don't Fear The Sun!
The sun provides you with Vitamin D, which is essential for healthy bones, immune function and blood cell formation.
Your body produces Vitamin D when exposed to the sun. Having 15 minutes a day of unprotected sun exposure maintains healthy Vitamin D levels. When you wear sunscreen, it blocks Vitamin D absorption.
Sun Screen
Did you know that many sunscreens contain hazardous chemicals?
Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate or “retinol”) - linked to increased cancer cell growth
Oxobenzone - Is a known hormone disrupter - experts caution against use on children especially
Powder spray, mineral-based (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide)
Normally safe in lotion form, but can cause internal damage when inhaled.
Bad for the environment - Causes major damage to coral reefs and water across the globe

Reduce The Bloat!
Because we sweat in the warmer months, salt attracts more water from cells in summer to attempt to maintain the sodium balance for cellular function, thus leading to excess fluid in the body. Here are a few more things you can do to help with the bloat:
Hydrate: Drink lots of filtered water to flush out the excess salt in your body
Use citrus essential oils like Lemon, Wild Orange, Tangerine, Grapefruit in your water to help cleanse and detoxify.
Ditch the soda, even diet soda! Try unsweetened iced tea or sparkling water with oils.
Alcohol. Go for organic or gluten free and if you're going to drink, HYDRATE!
Change your salt: Limit your salt intake to only unprocessed salt like Celtic or Himalayan.
Himalayan salt has less sodium than table salt. It also contains more minerals!!
No additives like anti-caking agents (aluminum), dextrose or chlorine (for color).
Digestive Aids:
TerraZyme
Enzyme rich foods & herbs like: papaya, ginger, fennel, turmeric, peppermint, parsley and pineapple
DigestZen and Peppermint Enteric Coated Softgels
